About Us
Dan and Kurt grew up in African on farms that had been passed down through generations. Due to difficult and uncertain times, we had to expand our careers and horizons in search of new, sustainable opportunities. Our goal was to set up a business, aligned with our experiences, a business that could grow and expand for generations to come.
We also took to growing these trees in Africa, which has never been done before. We are excited to be part of this industry, of the adventure ahead of us, driven by the long-term future of the business, especially with our plantations. Along the way we plan to discover and add many other naturals, oils and aromas, old and new, including aromas unique to Africa. Over time we hope to build a broad product list.
Our initial research led us to Indian Sandalwood and then to Agarwood and Oud and we were quickly impressed by the various medicinal and aromatic benefits that these oils have to offer. Our adventure began and led us through Arabia, Australia and parts of Asia, where we have met interesting people and discovered several opportunities. (We met Joy in Laos, who is on the ground managing the business there). An ancient industry absorbed in culture and history, it took us deeper and deeper until we were hooked. We discovered potential in the growing, processing and marketing of these products.

Our final ambition, over time, is to bring all the world’s cultures together into one destination, where we can help others discover and celebrate all aroma cultures, some ancient, some new and exciting. We appreciate that along the way our ambitions will evolve naturally, like a river making its way to the sea. Our journey started in Africa and then joined us with Asia, hence our name Afrasia Naturals. There is nothing more powerful and mystical than the mighty rivers that flow through them, the Zambezi and the Mekong, with their mythical river gods/goddesses, the serpent dragons that protect them. The Zambezi Nyaminyami and the Mekong Phaya Naga are embodied in our logo.
